Deer Creek North Course
Known as “The Jewel” of Durham Region, Deer Creek North’s 27-hole championship course is among the best of Ontario’s elite public golf courses.
Divided into three nines of impeccably conditioned “jewels,” the North Course tests every golfer’s shot-making ability with undulating greens, challenging doglegs and small targets. Water, treelined fairways and sand all come into play in this demanding yet playable design.
OUR THREE NINES
Diamond
Diamond-9 features long and narrow fairways, hazard carries, interesting doglegs, and small targets. You’ll have little margin for error off the tee.
Ruby
Ruby-9 tests your course management skills with a combination of doglegs and small targets. Every hole offers you a new challenge, from elevation changes and narrow tee shots, to sand and water hazards.
Black Pearl
Black Pearl-9 features several signature holes, including the 2nd hole – a challenging Par 4 island green. Of the many challenges on Black Pearl, the length and narrowness of the fairways will pose your biggest threat to par.

TIP FROM THE PROUsing a fairway wood or long iron, your tee shot should favour the left side of the fairway. A high, soft shot is preferable to this firm, well-guarded green.
HCP Men's 9 / Ladies 8 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
Long hitters must be wary of using driver off this tee, as it brings the fairway bunker into play and increases your risk of finding the water on the right. Note the pin position on this long narrow green.
HCP Men's 3 / Ladies 7 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
Situated above a valley along the right side, this hole can reach up and bite you if you’re not careful. Take note of which way the tree tops are blowing, as you may not feel the wind on this hole.
HCP Men's 6 / Ladies 4 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
One of the best par 5’s you’ll ever play. Take what this hole gives you, as greed will be penalized. A fairway wood or long iron off the tee, followed by a lay-up to the 150 yard marker is the smartest play.
HCP Men's 1 / Ladies 1 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
A solid left to right tee shot will leave you with a mid-iron to this three-tiered green. If you hit the wrong section of the green, expect a roller coaster putt where 3 and even 4 putts are not uncommon. Par is a great score on this hole.
HCP Men's 4 / Ladies 3 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
A tee shot right is trouble and left is worse. Playing from the short grass is key to success here. Note the colour of the flag, and trust your yardage as the hole location can be deceiving from the fairway.
HCP Men's 8 / Ladies 9 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
Another solid par 3 awaits. Choose your club wisely, as this green is shallow, guarded by four bunkers, a creek in front and O.B. at the back. Good Luck!
HCP Men's 5 / Ladies 6 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
A solid tee shot down the left will catch the down slope, leaving a short iron into the green. A large undulation bisects the green, so keep your approach shot near the pin to avoid a devilish putt.
HCP Men's 7 / Ladies 5 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
Your best shot at getting home in two is to bomb a drive down the left side of the fairway. If going for it, check your yardage carefully as it’s all carry over the pond that protects the green.

Grip it and rip it! There is out-of-bounds left but this should not be a factor unless you really mess up. Big hitters may get home in 2, if not, be sure to leave yourself a short iron into this shallow green.

Perhaps the toughest par 3 on our property. The yardage is true, even though this is downhill. Missing this green right leads to bogey at best.
HCP Men's 2 / Ladies 3 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
A short par 4 with a challenging approach. Your tee shot should at least reach the right corner of the fairway trap. Then a lofted club is needed to hold this firm, shallow green.
HCP Men's 7 / Ladies 6 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
The first priority on this tee is to check the wind. Due to the drop in elevation, plan on hitting one less club. If in doubt, bail out right where you at least have a chance for an “up and down”.
HCP Men's 8 / Ladies 7 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
The 5th is a secluded hole where wind is rarely a factor. The key here is hitting the fairway, as a shot from the rough will not likely hold this firm elevated green.
HCP Men's 6 / Ladies 5 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
A tee shot aimed slightly left of the 150-yard marker is perfect. Big hitters will hit a driver through the fairway so a fairway wood or long iron is a good choice here. Land your approach shot on the front of the green, allowing it to feed back to the pin.
HCP Men's 9 / Ladies 8 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
This is the start of our most difficult 3-hole stretch. In the distance, aim your tee shot at the birdhouse behind the green. Long and straight are the keys to reaching this green in regulation.

TIP FROM THE PRO
A left pin position makes this a three-shot par 5. Avoid the fairway trap on the right when laying up. A close shot to the pin is required to prevent a long “roller coaster putt” on this undulating green.
HCP Men's 3 / Ladies 4 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
A 3 on this hole is always a good score. Deer Creek’s third longest par 3’s difficulty is enhanced by water right, out-of-bounds left and two strategically placed bunkers. Short left is the only place to miss. Remember that the yardage is all carry.

The longest hole on the course lets you swing away with the tee shot. Your lay-up shot must avoid the large bunker just right of the 100 yard marker, leaving you with a short approach to this fairly level green.

The second is one of the signature holes at Deer Creek. Your tee shot should leave you a full wedge or 9-iron to this shallow island green. The slightest miscalculation can result in a very big number.

TIP FROM THE PRO
A big tee shot favouring the left centre of the fairway will allow you to at least consider going for it in two. If you try to cut the corner too much, your second shot may be blocked or worse. Par is not bad here.
HCP Men's 6 / Ladies 5 -

A tee shot down the right side of the fairway sets up your next shot that requires at least a good shot, if not great. This green is surrounded by trouble: water, bunkers, trees and O.B. Good luck!

Choosing the correct club is the key to success on this par 3. Hitting the correct section of this long, two-tiered green is the difference between an easy par or praying for a 2 putt. Take note that an errant tee shot left of this green could land O.B.

TIP FROM THE PRO
A long tee shot favouring the left side of this fairway is crucial in attempting to reach the longest par 4 on this 9 in two shots. A long iron or fairway wood played right to left will be needed to reach this green while negotiating the large tree guarding its front left side.

TIP FROM THE PRO
With tree trouble to the left and right, a par is difficult to attain without a tee shot in the fairway. Your approach must avoid water guarding the front of this two-tiered green.
HCP Men's 3 / Ladies 6 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
Your tee shot must favour the left side of the fairway, while avoiding the reachable bunkers. Only the longest of hitters need to be concerned with running out of fairway off the tee. Your approach shot must carry the naturalized area to a deep green.
HCP Men's 7 / Ladies 8 -
TIP FROM THE PRO
Don’t relax just yet. The beauty of this hole can lull you into a false sense of security. This picturesque par 3 demands a long iron or fairway wood to a green protected by bunkers and water. A par will earn bragging rights in your foursome.
