Deer Creek Cares Charitable Foundation

HOW IT STARTED

Deer Creek Cares began in 2013 when we hosted our very first annual Deer Creek Cares Golf Tournament to raise funds for local charities in the Durham Region.

Since then, the Deer Creek Cares Charity Golf Tournament has been a huge success every year, raising over $400,000 for local charities and their causes.

In 2016, Deer Creek Cares became a registered charity: the Deer Creek Cares Charitable Foundation, dedicated to supporting the programs and initiatives of local charities within our community. This enabled us to explore other fundraising opportunities, in addition to our annual charity golf tournament.

We’ve joined with other charities in local Walk-A-Thons, supported the Children’s Aid Foundation by donating gifts to families in need, hosted multiple food or clothing drives, and volunteered our time where we are needed.

Deer Creek Cares Charitable Foundation will affect positive change in our community by supporting local charities through volunteer and fundraising initiatives.

HOW WE'RE GIVING BACK TO DURHAM REGION

EMPLOYEE PAYROLL DEDUCTION PROGRAM

By being a part of the Deer Creek team, employees have the opportunity to give back to the Region by participating in our Employee Payroll Deduction Program. If they choose to participate, they can select an amount of money to be deducted from their bi-weekly paycheck, which is then matched by Deer Creek and donated to Deer Creek Cares.

Each month there is a draw, selecting one employee who is participating in the program, where they are able to select a local charity of their choice to donate $500 to on behalf of Deer Creek Cares.

CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

Since 2013, Deer Creek Charitable Foundation has been hosting their annual golf tournament benefitting local charities in the Durham Region. The event is always a great day for our team and community to come together and celebrate in giving back to the people and place we work and live. To date the tournament has donated over $400,000 back to local charities. The tournament is employee run and 100% of proceeds raised or donated back to the charities.

How do we decide on which charities to support for the golf tournament?

From the list of charities over the previous year that were selected by employees participating in the payroll deduction program, all employees vote on their top charities they'd like to support and the most voted charities are selected.
